DAILY SCHEDULE: 8:55 ~
Arrival and Check-in
9:05 - 9:30 ~ Morning Meeting,
following the Responsive Classroom
model. We have a daily V.I.P. who
runs the meeting. He or she
chooses the greeting, leads us through
the reading of the message, sharing,
daily joke, and reading of the schedule.
*Every Friday we have a Second Step
lesson.*
9:30 - 10:30 ~ Reading Workshop,
following the Kathy Collins reading
workshop model. Every Monday
students "shop" for books from
pre-sorted bins of books at their own
level. Each workshop begins with a
short mini-lesson. Children then
read independently while reading
conferences happen. Each child
then reads and talks with a partner
about his or her book(s). We end
with a Wrap-Up, refocusing on the
mini-lesson of the day. This
period can also be used for Spelling and
Handwriting.
10:30 - 10:55 ~ Snack and Recess
11:00 - 11:40 ~ Writing Workshop,
following the Lucy Calkins model.
This period often integrates science and
social studies themes.
11:40 - 12:20 ~ Special

11:40 - 12:20 ~ Read Aloud
12:45 - 1:15 ~ Lunch and Recess
1:30 - 2:30 ~ Math. We do our
calendar routine and follow the
Investigations curriculum.
2:30 - 3:00 ~ Project Time. Children
make choices such as building,
inventing, painting, and puzzle making.
3:10 ~ Dismissal |
